What is PVC Pipe Used For?
PVC pipe is usually used for the manufacture of sewage pipes, waterways and irrigation. How is PVC Pipe Made?
PVC pipe is made by extrusion of PVC raw material, and generally follows the same steps of ordinary pipe extrusion operations:
- Feeding raw material pellets/powder to PVC twin screw extruder
- Melting and heating in multiple extruder zones
- Extruding through the mold to form the pipe
- Shaped pipe cooling
- Cutting PVC pipe to the desired length
However, despite having a manufacturing procedure similar to that of most plastic piping, PVC pipe has intrinsic characteristics that pose additional challenges for pipe manufacturers both in terms of production, as well as positioning their products in the market.
